Report of CSP in the NWCCA 2011/2012 League
Report on North West Cyclo Cross Association League results at final round of the series on 15th January 2012 at Beacon Country Park. Special thanks to Peter Payton for this report See NWCCA Awards and Beacon Cross photos here
In sharp contrast to the final round of the 2010/2011 North West cyclo cross series the final round of the 2011/2012 series at Beacon Park was bright, crisp and clear. Frosty conditions over previous days saw what was potentially going to be a fast circuit over a course with some fast downhill sections followed by some tough little climbs mixed in with steps and a heavy section towards the end of the course. There were slightly reduced numbers at the last round of the series but still a really good turnout for the events on the day. Racing in the Youth U16/U14 event and under 12`s event saw some great racing by all the competitors including the Cycle Sport Pendle riders who have really showed strength in depth this season as the results for the League presented on the day showed. These results really demonstrate the commitment shown by the riders, parents, coaches and members of the club and other friends and family to support the sport and promote success. In the senior event later in the day the January sunshine had shown a little bit more of its heat which when combined with not quite sufficient frost to make the ground properly frozen started to soften things up little bit. After a lap or two of racing by the Seniors, Juniors, vets and ladies, some of the sections out on the course started getting very heavy and slippery. Towards the end of the race the approach around the field towards the finish area started to become so sticky and heavy that it was much quicker to get off and run, which the majority of riders were doing. It really was a great day out and again some fantastic results from the CSP riders in all of the categories. The presentation following the days racing started at around 3-00pm in the packed golf club, food was laid on by the organisers which was well received by the competitors who formed an orderly queue for the chips, pasta and hot pot. Following food the presentations got underway in the clubhouse with first a raffle and then the awards. The Cycle Sport Pendle riders, parents and fans all congregated in what became CSP corner and gave a really united atmosphere for the club with everyone in good moods and high spirits and was a great end to the season. The presentations started first with the youngest riders with lots of cheering by CSP every time the club got another trophy, medal or certificate, it felt like CSP were the only club there. A brilliant day out! Special thanks go out to the organisers of the events and a big thanks to Len & Christine who work tirelessly for the league and club throughout the cross season.
