CSP member Oliver Payton finished an excellent 4th U14 and 10th overall at Leverhulme Park Bolton, over a wet but fast course as used for the main race. In his first season of cyclocross, Oliver is putting in some excellent performances against some of the best of the North West youth riders.

CSP and Sportcity Velo Junior rider Martin Woffindin battled against strong opposition to finish 8th place in the main race. Oliver's dad, Peter Payton finished in 61st position, out of 97 finishers, again an excellent ride.

Cycle Sport Pendle @ HOPE 21st November 2009

CSP have just completed their first year and celebrated the milestone with a visit to the Hope factory in Barnoldswick, Lancashire. The town is famous for jet engines of course and Rolls Royce is one of Pendle's major employers'. HOPE are equally famous for the Rolls Royce of MTB equipment and it's no accident the founders Ian Weatheral and Simon Sharp are both aerospace engineers who put their knowledge to expert use in developing MTB race kit, the company employs over eighty people and exports around the world.

The area is also a hot bed of Track, road and off road Elite racers and CSP club supporters' Paul Oldam and Ian Wilkinson were on hand to present the club with four Isla bikes kindly donated by the company, while Olympic rider Steven Burke sent his thanks from the world cup event in Australia.

The club was able to unveil 2010 race kit for the first time and the distinctive Orange, Black and White colour's will be in action next year at youth and Junior level.

The club has placed progression at the root of their aims, in 2010 Ten schools in the Pendle area will benefit directly from Bikability funding and will be delivered under the CSP umbrella by their qualified coaches. Go Ride , Go Race and regional racing will continue to underpin activity for the under sixteen's and novice riders, while a fledgling Junior team will have the direct benefit of our very experienced coaches, including ex international riders Alan and Sue Gornall.

BC Go-Ride coach Simon Wilson was on hand for the day and along with the clubs coaches ran a full Go-Ride session at the factory. A taste of Roller racing rounded the day off with Commonwealth Gold medal winner Alan diplomatically dead heating with 'Wilko'

CSP members ride Cyclocross at Clayton Vale 10th October 2009

CSP members Oliver Payton, Thomas Payton, mum Karen Payton and Martin Woffindin rode the cyclocross event at Clayton Vale in Manchester. Thomas rode well in the U12 shorter course, Oliver rode in the U14/16 30 minute race on a tough and challenging course, then Karen and Martin rode the hour long Senior event on the long course. Martin came in a very credible 5th place overall in a field of over 80 riders. Karen finished an excellent 8th Lady in the race - the first race for Karen for many years! What a tough place to start!
