16th August 2008 - Colne's Steven Burke takes Bronze in Olympic Individual 4K Pursuit

Steven Burke rode the ride of his life in Beijing, bettering his personal best by 9 seconds to take the Olympic bronze in the Individual 4K Pursuit at the Velodrome by beating Russian Alexei Markov. Britain's Bradley Wiggins took gold and New Zealand's Hayden Roulston took silver.

In the picture is Steven with three local Sport City riders, at the Colne reception on Monday. Steven's initial track experience was with the Sport City club at the Velodrome.

22nd August 2008  - Chris and Martin do well at the British Cycling Junior & Youth Track Championships

Chris Sherrifs and Martin Woffindin both performed very well against top UK youth riders this last week at the Newport Velodrome. Both rode exceptionally well in the Points race, with Chris winning his heat and finishing 5th in the final, and Martin finishing 8th in his heat and 9th in the final of 24 riders. Chris got through to the Scratch race final, and finished an excellent 8th in a field of 24.  Click here for the full results from British Cycling.

2nd - 4th August 2008 - Kerry Youth Tour - Martin Woffindin finishes 7th overall

In a gruelling 4 stage road race in Kilorglin Kerry over 3 days, Martin Woffindin finished 7th overall beating off riders in teams from Turkey, Ireland, Belgium and the UK. Many of the top 20 finishing riders had been entered as National teams, making Martin's result all the more outstanding, as he had entered as a lone rider. On the day, Martin teamed up with riders from the Isle of Mann, but rode in his Sport City colours. Martin's performance was consistently good, with a number of significant attacking moves, despite being a marked man by the UK Talent Team team.
