Burnley & Pendle CTC, Cycle Touring Club
Sunday 30th June 2013, 'Bikes for Pendle' Charity Ride.
Burnley and Pendle CTC are leading a fund raising guided cycle ride, with ALL funds going towards the purchase of disability adapted cycles to be used by the Pendle Borough Council 'Wheels for All' scheme. This nationally recognized programme embraces all children & adults with disabilities or different needs, to engage in quality cycling activity, using specially adapted cycles, run by fully trained leaders.
Starting from Seedhill running track, the current base for the scheme, at 10:00am, the 28 mile route is intended to be suitable for relatively new riders whist offering a challenge. The route heads out on the canal towpath to Burnley and onto the Padiham Greenway, before returning on lanes via Newchurch, Barley and back onto the canal towpath at Salterforth to pass the proposed site of 'The Steven Burke Sports Hub' on route to Seedhill. A shorter 18 mile alternative is available heading straight back to Seedhill from Barley. There will be opportunities to get refreshments in Barley.
There is a £5 entry fee (All of which will be going to the charity), with sponsorship forms also available for any entrants wishing to raise further funds for the disability adapted cycles.
Burnley and Pendle CTC run a series of introductory rides through the Spring and Summer aimed at encouraging new riders. These guided rides are free of charge and would be ideal for new riders to prepare for this Charity Ride.
CSP members, parents and friends are encouraged to join this fundraising ride.
